PTA

All parents and carers with children at St John’s Catholic Primary School, and all members of staff are automatically part of our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and we welcome everyone to join us at our meetings held throughout the year.

The PTA is an important, integral part of the school community.

Over the years, the PTA has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school. The intention is to fund the “extras” that are not provided for by the school’s budget, making our children’s learning experience so much more fulfilling and exciting.

However, our PTA is about much, much more than just fundraising. The PTA exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers; we often run events with the aim of giving the children and their families a good time, as a way of thanking our school community for their continued support for the PTA.

Our many activities include school discos, quiz nights, family fun days, film nights, gift sales, bags2school plus more. More recently the PTA has started to sell second hand uniform. We are always interested in new ideas that will benefit our children and their wonderful school.

Our PTA is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission and we therefore follow the rules and regulations established by the Charity Commission. We are also members of PTA-UK, a national organisation which exists to support PTA and have adopted the PTA-UK model constitution which sets out the way in which we run our PTA.

Visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stjohnsptagravesend) for all of our latest news and dates of up and coming events, or e-mail us at pta@stjohnsprimary.kent.sch.uk for further details.

Our committee members are often on the playgrounds at morning drop off and afternoon pick up and always happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thank you for all the support you give throughout the year.
