Prospective Parents

We are fully committed to ensuring all of our pupils’ transition to primary school is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

We achieve this through our highly regarded transition programme, filled with activities and events that start the moment a child is offered a place at the school.

These are all designed to ensure pupils and their families are well prepared and feel comfortable and excited about joining St John’s; it also allows us to get to know each child in order to support their learning experience at St John’s. This continues at every stage of their journey with us, right up until we prepare them for secondary school.

Through our strong partnership with St John’s Catholic Comprehensive we aim to prepare our pupils for their transition into any secondary school. From taster days to workshops and events run by their students and staff, we can provide our pupils with the opportunities to boost their learning and get a taste of life at secondary school.

What our pupils say:

Prudence, Year 6

For Prudence, her favourite aspect of life at St John’s is the opportunity to participate in many projects and extra-curricular activities, making learning fun and enjoyable. She hopes to become a doctor in the future, crediting the inspiring, challenging and fun environment and supportive teachers that have helped her realise her ambitions.

“When I leave St John’s, I will miss my friends and the teachers who have supported me but I am really looking forward to starting secondary school. All the teachers here have helped us to prepare for moving on, and now I am really looking forward to the next step of my adventure”.

Luke, Year 3 loves to learn new things, discover interesting facts and get creative with his writing skills. He has big ambitions of becoming a car engineer when he is older, with his passions ignited in art class when he designed his very own car. His favourite aspect of St John’s is working in leadership roles, such as the school council, and working hard to achieve school awards, such as the Golden Tie and Mid-day meal supervisor award. He credits his teachers for helping him when he needs it and opening his eyes to new things!

Oliver, Year 6

Oliver’s favourite subject is science as he loves to learn about new things and test theories every term. His experience at St John’s has been fun and challenging but credits his teachers for their constant support.

“I feel St John’s have prepared me for secondary school. We regularly visited St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School, experiencing secondary school subjects and learning about their expectations. I can’t wait to try new exciting things and learn different subjects”.
