Making soup - March 2024

We made turnip soup inspired by our focus book The Gigantic Turnip. We followed a recipe and talked about which ingredients we needed. We discussed how to be safe when making our soup. We washed our hands before we began. We talked about how to stay safe with knives and kitchen equipment. We took it in turns to peel and chop the potatoes, onion and turnips. The teachers heated oil in the pan and added the onion. When the onion was soft, we added the chopped vegetables and some vegetable stock. After 12 minutes, the vegetables were soft. We let the mixture cool and blended the cooked vegetables to make a smooth turnip soup. When the soup had cooled, we were able to taste it! It was delicious! We shared our soup with Mrs Barron and Mrs Cooneyhan.
