The Importance of Attending School

Attendance and punctuality is vital to a child's ongoing education. Please ensure your child is punctual so they can make a good start to their learning, daily. Children should aim for 100% attendance across the entire academic year. Whilst we understand that sometimes children are ill, it is important that they do not miss more learning and experiences than is necessary for their overall development.

At St John's Catholic Primary School, it is our priority that all of our children fulfil their highest potential. To do this, it is essential that they attend school on a regular basis.

We are here to help!

If you or your child are having struggles getting into school every day, please come and speak with Miss Dysart (Attendance Lead/DSL) and Miss Morgan (Attendance Officer). They are always available at the main reception each morning. We will do everything we can to ensure you feel supported in this important responsibility of getting your children to school every singles day.

The classroom doors are open from 8;35am and close at 8:45am for registration. If you arrive after this time, you will need to bring your children to the main office to get them registered.

If your child is unwell or has an appointment, please contact the school office on 01474 361609 and select the option to report your child's absence. We operate a 'first day calling' system for pupils who are not in school. If a notification has not been received, Miss Morgan will contact you during the morning. If your child has been absent for 3 days, a home visit will be completed.

If you have any further questions regarding absence, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Dysart, Miss Morgan or the school office.
