Year 5 Science Lessons

In Science, Year 5 looked at separating materials.  Please see photos.

In Science this week, Year 5 have researched seperating materials, conducting their own experiences to deepen their knowledge of the subject.

  • Firstly, pupils began by mixing sand and water into a jug, using a funnel made from filter paper for the mixture to be poured through the bowl
  • They experimented with raisins and flour, using a sieve over the bowl
  • Using a magnet, pupils separated paper clips and rice
  • In the final experiment, the class teacher dissolved salt in water using a small metal bowl and held it over a tea light.

Following the experiments, pupils discussed and noted their observations before drawing their findings. Take a look at how much fun they had!
