  • Wednesday 20 July 2022 Eco club success!
  • Thursday 14 July 2022 End of year Mass Bright and early this morning, before the sun got too hot, we celebrated our end of year whole school Mass. It was wonderful to see the whole school family out together celebrating and giving thanks for the fantastic year we have had together. #stjohnsway #catholiclife
  • Friday 24 June 2022 Recycling Last week, our School Council and Eco-Warriors were very excited to welcome Mr Simmons from Gravesham Borough Council and Mrs Mills, a parent and local street champion to talk to them about recycling. Mr Simmons explained what happens to our recycling and why it is important to recycle as much as possible. They thought about how they could be Stewards of the Earth by looking after our local environment. They were very grateful to receive some new litter pickers and hoops from Mr Simmons and they can’t wait to put them to good use!
  • Wednesday 18 May 2022 Night Owls visit We had a visit this week from Night Owls, who brought along some special guests. 5 beautiful owls!! The children were able to meet each one and learned lots of facts, before seeing them fly. Whisper, the barn owl, was a little bit cheeky and didn't want to come back down!
  • Wednesday 16 March 2022 St John's support Ukraine On Wednesday 2nd, our school put out an urgent appeal, to our school family, to help the refugees from Ukrainian war crisis. We came together and donated many items including nappies, baby clothes, baby food and toiletries. As a school we were amazed at everyone's generosity. We filled two minibuses and three cars will our donations. A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who supported us.
  • Saturday 19 February 2022 Number Day 2022! On Friday 4th February, we took part in NSPCC Number Day. As well as learning how the NSPCC works to support children, we all had a fun-filled day exploring numbers in a variety of ways including: investigating “Fibonacci” spirals, playing number-related PE games, challenging each other in “Who Wants to be a Mathionaire” and many more! We have raised a fantastic amount of £657.50 (with payments still being made), which will go towards helping many young people around the UK. It was great to see so many creative costumes around the school.
  • Monday 15 November 2021 Over £750 pounds raised for Winston's Wish charity! On Friday 22nd October we held a 'Wear your Wellies' day in aid of the charity Winston's Wish. This charity raise money for children who are suffering from bereavement. We would like to say a MASSIVE thank you for all your donations! As a school we raised £763 pounds.
  • Wednesday 10 November 2021 Parent Tour Dates! Is your child due to start school in September 2022? Join us on one of our school tours to see why St John's is a GOOD school. The tours will take place at 8am on Wednesday 17th/24th November and 1st/8th/15th December. Please call or email our school office to book your place. Places will be limited due to our current COVID risk assessment. Do not forget to also take a look at our virtual tour!

  • Monday 6 September 2021 Silver award mark for Modern Foreign Languages! In July, our Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Co-ordinator, Mrs Andrea Nash prepared a portfolio of French experiences our pupils received. It was a huge task. However, her efforts and commitment were rewarded with a “Silver MFL Quality Mark”. Congratulations to her and everyone involved.
  • Friday 23 July 2021 Year 6 Leavers Celebrations This week we said goodbye to our fabulous Year 6 children. We hope they enjoyed their final week with us, which included a BBQ, a cooked breakfast and the 'Leaver's Fest' festival day which was a day full of fun activities, including candy floss and ice-cream, signing shirts and autograph books. We wish them all the very best as they begin a new chapter in their lives!
  • Wednesday 12 May 2021 Over £600 raised from NSPCC Number day! On Friday 7th May our school took part in the NSPCC Number day! Children came into school in number inspired clothing and participated in various number based activities thorough the day. A massive thank you to everyone who donated - we raised over £600 for the NSPCC. Remember Speak out. Stay safe. 
  • Friday 30 April 2021 Year 3 plant new trees! Year 3 worked with the Woodlands trust to plant trees on the school grounds to create a new 'forest school' for the future. Building on their concern regarding the destruction of rainforests, they felt it important to plant more trees for future generations.
  • Monday 26 April 2021 Year 3 receive a letter from Downing street! Year three recently wrote and sent letters to the prime minister, Boris Johnson, about the deforestation of the rainforests. They were very excited as they have received an official response from 10 Downing street. Take a look at the response and some examples of the letters they wrote! 
  • Monday 22 March 2021 Over 750 pounds raised for Comic Relief! On Friday 19th March we dressed crazy for the day in aid of Comic Relief. We had lots of crazy outfits across the school and it brought smiles to lots of people. As a school we raised over £750 pounds! A massive thank you to everyone who donated! 
  • Tuesday 2 March 2021 Times Table Rock Star Battles! Over lockdown the children have been participating in battles on Times Table Rock Star. Each class battled against each other to try and become the Times Table Rock Start champions! The final was a close competition between 2b and 4c. 4c were the winners but only by 1 point! 1731 points to 1730 points! Such a close battle. Congratulations to all the children who participated!
  • Thursday 25 February 2021 St John's launch a new school app! Today, we have launched a new school app! This new app integrates seamlessly with our school website. It is FREE for you to download and is part of our commitment to improve communication with our parents/carers. All parents will have received an email which details how they can download the app.

  • Friday 5 February 2021 Children's Mental Health Week This week we have been supporting Children's Mental Health week. We have been encouraging the children to 'express' themselves in different ways to help improve their mental health and wellbeing. Here are some of the ways the children have been 'expressing' themselves and looking after their mental health! 
  • Thursday 21 January 2021 Year 1 are Superheroes! This term Year 1's theme is Superheroes! They have been learning to write their very own superhero story and to inspire their ideas further they all dressed up as their favourite superhero for their zoom call. 
  • Thursday 14 January 2021 Reception learn about the seasons! This week children in Reception have been learning about the four seasons. Look at the beautiful piece of art they created! 
  • Friday 18 December 2020 St John's 'Missing You' Tree At St. John’s we want to support well being by encouraging children to express their emotions. Year group bubbles (who were able) made Missing You Trees. Children thought about friends / family they would miss seeing this year . They wrote/ decorated paper chain links for these people and these were then joined to make a year group Christmas Tree.
  • Thursday 17 December 2020 Year 6 learn about Christmas in Germany
  • Wednesday 16 December 2020 Christmas Poster competition We had some fantastic entries for our Christmas poster competition for our donation buckets. Well done for all those who took part! It was lovely to see such colourful buckets on the gates. 
  • Tuesday 1 December 2020 Year 3 'Temors' Art Work Last week, year 3 created front covers for their new topic 'Tremors'. They experimented with watercolours to create a 'wash' background. They then used mixed media to collage their idea of an exploding volcano. The results have been fantastic, well done Year 3!
  • Friday 27 November 2020 Celebrating Diwali Over the past two weeks, across the school, we have been learning about Diwali. Lots of creative activities have been happening. Can your child tell you anything they have learnt about Diwali?
  • Wednesday 18 November 2020 Year 5 Egyptian Day On Monday, we had lots of fun and completed many tasks relating to our topic, the Ancient Egyptians.  We took part in the following activities:
  • Sunday 15 November 2020 We will remember them. . . . Over the last week, we have been all learning about the significance of Remembrance day. We have all undertaken various activities to learn about why the day is so important.
