Thursday 1st March

Dear  Parents/Carers
For years we have wanted some “proper snow” like our childhood memories ! Well, we certainly have it now but I’m sure ,like the rest of you, I wish it would just go away! Twice I have dug out my drive and it is still covered in 4/ 5 cms of snow. I have stopped clearing it as I’m convinced God waits until I’ve cleared it, to send more snow!

The decision to close the school is never taken likely. The health and safety of pupils and staff is paramount. Can enough staff safely get in and can the children be safe when they get here? So far, the answers have been no.

On our website the year leaders are posting some work/activities that the children can do in case we cannot reopen until Monday.

Stay warm and safe.

Kind regards
Jonathan Shields

Monday, 8 January 2018

Happy New Year to you and your families from all the staff, governors and myself. May 2018 hold much health and happiness for you all. Why do I not wish you wealth? I do, but I think we are very wealthy in more ways than one on account of: having a home, a job, relationships and love. During January it is important for us to take stock of these things.

As a school we have so much to celebrate. We have: great children, excellent staff, supportive parents, an active governing body, a successful PTA, a thriving parish and the commitment by all to make the time at St John’s the very best it can be.

The latter is why it is so important for us not to let anything distract us from this, especially building works. By January 2019, most of the exterior building work will be completed and St John’s will have a school fit for another 40 years. Between now and then though, the children have much to achieve, strive for and accomplish, so let’s make 2018 a great year.

Best wishes.

Jonathan Shields
